Blogger Tuesday

My pick for Blog of the Week is Identity: V!! The blog is about the adventures and training of Elli, a dalmatian/pit bull mix. And they just happen to live pretty close by in Portland! How cool is that!

Yesterday, Elli's mom did a little post about keeping dogs' toe nails short. This is something that I also feel is incredibly important regardless of what kind of activities your dog does. I dremel all three of mine once a week and am religious about it. Neurotically so! Her post also got me thinking about doing a few different posts on nail trimming. I've been toying with the idea, but this definitely makes for the perfect segue way into it.:0)

So head on over and check them out!

Woohoo! Thanks!!

So glad to hear you take excellent care of those big dog nails -- usually its the big dogs I see that have the extra-overgrown nails. Can you even imagine the pain of carrying a big body on nails?! Gah!

Oh dear. I never mastered the art of nail trimming. I did Mango's for a while until the day he muzzle butted my hand and the clippers went flying and I lost sensation in my hand for about an hour. Luckily, the vet does a good job without stressing him out and it is worth every penny of the $15 they charge. Dexter's nails almost never need a trim. Good thing because he is a big pill about it.

I'm with Mango on this one. After getting the "quick" on Winstin, my Sheltie, I decided just to let the groomer or vet do it. The little money I put toward it is more than worth it to avoid the stress. I've already started this with Jasmine, the baby dane. The walks on the sidewalk keep them under control until I get them in to the vet/groomer once a month. But you're right, in that it has to be very painful and dangerous for the dogs whose owners let them get out of control!
