And now we're officially starting the weekly trick training theme!! As I mentioned previously, these tricks aren't necessarily going to be crazy difficult. And some of them will start out really simple and build up in subsequent weeks. With that said, I picked something that I haven't actually trained the dogs for, though it seems like a lot of people have. The hand touch. The goal is to get your dog to reliably touch your hand with their nose by next Thursday. You can go about it any way that you choose (obviously!), but I'm going to go the clicker route. I haven't done much clicker training with Ruthie, so my prediction is that it will take her a little longer than it will take the big dogs. Next week I'll have a video put together along with the next trick.

Elli already has a hand touch... it's super reliable and definitely one of her favorite behaviors. Can I change ours to, like, a shoulder touch to the outside of my thigh? Think: heeling.
Yes! Definitely! I would love to see how you go about doing that. I've got some other body targetting that I would like to do with the dogs and it would be cool to see how others go about training for that with body parts less obvious than the feet or nose.
Fingers crossed our human has time (she goes back to work this week), but we shall give it a go! We also have not learnt the hand touch :)
Licks and lots of slobber,
