Why Wednesday

Welcome to July! My why of the week is why in the heck did insects and thorny plants ever have to be invented??? I'm dealing with a foot injury right now that requires that I not run on it for a little while so that it can heal. Ideally I would spend as little time on my feet as possible, but that's kind of out of the question and I'm just taking the whole "healing" process with a grain of salt. At any rate, I'm not taking the dogs out running now. I had to replace that exercise with something else, so we've been hitting up our favorite private forest area so that they can run around off leash like crazy dogs and chase some deer. Since it's officially summer now, the freaking bugs are out with a vengence and all the pokey, weed type plants are drying up and getting pokier!>:( I spray the dogs each time with a natural insect repellant (I'm more paranoid about ticks than anything else), but keep forgetting to spray myself and I'm getting eaten alive! And why on earth do those little buggers have to fly into your eyes and ears??? I'm getting bugs in my eyes so that I'm not always seeing where I'm going. Therefore I'm stumbling into blackberry bushes or other lovely pokey plants. As the temperatures get warmer the thorns get dryer and less maleable and therefore more painful. So while the dogs are happily galavanting around finding the odd deer to chase, I'm getting sucked dry, blinded, deafened, and attacked by thorns of all sorts. Needless to say, I'm not having as grand of a time as the dogs are. But at least they're getting exercised, or as I like to say, exorcised.

So, I think what you need to do is bring a chair, sit down with a cold mojito, and let the dogs run while you enjoy your drink and not getting bitten, poked or otherwise molested by nature. I know you are probably unfamiliar with the concept of sitting, but trust me, if you set a chair down in the shade, your body will know what to do with it LOL!

I know well what you mean about blackberries, I'm in the process of removing them from my back yard...not fun at all!

I'm totally on the same boat. I spray the dogs head to toe but forget about myself and those damn mosquitos have a blast with me (a walking buffet)... I've done it like 3 weeks in the row... you would think I learn... LOL
