It's That Time of Year......

Happy December 12th!! Today we had our last AKC event until January. Which means that I can officially paint the dogs' toe nails for Christmas!! Woo hoo!!! he he he....is it bad that my dogs' toe nails get painted more often than mine? Wait. Don't answer that!

I try to change up at least a little what I do with the dogs' nails each year so that I'm not taking what looks to be the same exact picture every single year. The one thing that does remain the same is that I manage to do a much worse job painting my own nails than the dogs. Go figure! This year I went with a lovely red, white, and green pattern with the same adorable Christmas decals that I had last year. I refrained from putting the decals on my own toes because the painting job that I had done already was bad enough. Here are Heffner's toe nails:
And here are Bess':

Today I had Bess entered in conformation. I didn't have her entered yesterday because we showed to that judge twice, once with me handling and once with Georgia (her breeder) handling, and we got dumped both times. For me right now, there's no sense in wasting my entry fees on a judge that I already know doesn't like my dog. There's always a chance that on that given day they could change their mind, but I'm not willing to keep throwing money away on a chance. We haven't shown under today's judge before, so I figured we'd give it a chance. While we didn't do anything, I am actually in a really good mood about it. Bess showed REALLY well. It's been a good long while since she's shown that well. It's a little disappointing that we didn't do anything because of it, but at least I had a happy dog in the ring.

The one bummer about only showing on Sunday is that I don't get as much time to visit with the great friends that I've made that I usually only see at dog shows. By Sunday everyone is ready to get out of there and head for home. On Saturdays we usually go out for a little something to eat after the show and to just hang out and chat. Now I'll just have to wait for the almighty Rose City classic for that!

I hope everyone's weekend has been going fabulously! Only two more weeks to Christmas!!
